Technical Parameters and Grade Specifications

The superior performance of calcined alumina stems from strict chemical purity and dense microstructural characteristics, categorized primarily into two standard grades:

  • HA-1 Grade Specifications: Maintains an Al₂O₃ content of ≥ 99.3%, SiO₂ ≤ 0.02%, Na₂O ≤ 0.40%, Fe₂O₃ ≤ 0.02%, and LOI ≤ 0.1%. It achieves an α-phase conversion (α-Al₂O₃) of ≥ 93%, a crystal density of ≥ 3.90 g/cm³, a median particle size (D50) of 4 to 5 um, and a 325-mesh residue of ≤ 1%.

  • HA-2 Grade Specifications: Offers enhanced purity with Al₂O₃ ≥ 99.6%, lower silica (SiO₂ ≤ 0.01%), and reduced sodium levels (Na₂O ≤ 0.15%), alongside Fe₂O₃ ≤ 0.02% and LOI ≤ 0.1%. It features an α-Al₂O₃ conversion rate of ≥ 94% and a higher density of ≥ 3.94 g/cm³, maintaining a fine D50 particle size of 4 to 5 um.

Core Material Properties

Calcined alumina fine powder exhibits an exceptional combination of thermal, electrical, and mechanical traits:

  • High Melting Points and Thermal Stability: Allows the material to maintain structural integrity and volume stability under extreme operating temperatures.

  • Superior Mechanical Strength and Hardness: Delivers high load-bearing capacity and outstanding wear resistance, extending component lifespans.

  • High Electrical Resistivity and Thermal Conductivity: Provides robust dielectric properties for electronic insulation while facilitating rapid heat dissipation in thermal management systems.

Diverse Industrial Applications

Driven by its multifunctional properties, calcined alumina is widely used in various high-performance manufacturing fields. It is an important component of architectural and structural ceramics, which can improve structural density, mechanical durability, surface smoothness, and fracture toughness under extreme mechanical stress. In electronic applications, it provides the high resistivity substrate and insulation components necessary for reliable heat dissipation. In addition, its excellent thermal stability, impact resistance, and surface hardness make it indispensable in high-temperature refractory materials and wear-resistant components designed to withstand severe wear, while its uniform microhardness enables high-precision surface finishing and fine grinding operations in advanced polishing media.
